Paul are you up to date now or is there anything esle your not sure about , between my post which Betty posted the link to and Geds today I think it pretty much covers it

I have always been open and honest with what going on , or at least of what i know about the forum

I have been pulling my hair out today as i couldnt access the forum , which i wasnt expecting to go through the changes just yet , I couldnt get access to facebook as that just froze and then had a txt from my son wanting me to babysit my grandaughter, plus trying to sort things out here as im going away on Sunday for 2 weeks........... a little frazzled to say the least
My son turned up with Ruby and i left the computer on while i was with her when i came back i had messages on fb and emails from Jess

also fao Ged

Jess asked me for the EPP code which can be found on the domain site, I have rang their support line and have been informed that they will not give any access becasue the account is shortly up for renewal and will after the renewal has been paid, I asked to renew now (before i go away so no delays) and they said its all done automatically as they have my bank details, i asked if there was anything I could do to get this info and she said you could try the support ticket ( just an email to them really that they are supposed to reply to within 24 hours , not sure about weekends) but as the account is up for renewal she is sure they wont be able to help

I have sent a support ticket requesting details,if i dont get any joy over the weekend I will have to find an internet cafe over there so i can check my emails and forward on anything they send

As for the coding, codes for pop ups thats Jess's dept I wouldnt know where to start I only found out the other ngiht while talking to Jess that I can gain access to admin controls by clicking on a certain link on the forum , i have always had to click on a members name to get into admin

Ged I have been very grateful for your support with LGSD and the use of your server for free and im sorry that it has had to be moved to be honest as since it has been on your server we have had no problems, apart from last week but once i informed Jo about it you had sorted it within the hour , i dont think we will get that service again if anything goes wrong !
Thank you !!

Lisa, an EPP code is yours if you request it. No host should stop you from having that if you ask for it to be sent to you.

I would hazard a guess that the following will now happen.

1) You send an email asking for it to be done
2) They will tell you that you have to renew your domain
3) You will renew the domain at their price
4) You again ask for the EPP code
5) They will charge you an admin fee for this or to move your domain away to another host
6) You will have to pay for this or at least put up a fight to not have to pay it
7) You move to another domain registrar
8) Live happily ever after

Leave it as it is, let the account renew and then ask for the code. The nameservers can be changed at any time, I can use ours for now or however long it takes.

Thanks Ged

But bugger i have already requested the code in the support ticket becasue i wanted to try and get everything sorted before i go away , i wasnt sure if the whole bloody forum would go down again now its moved server

They neednt start that game, Ive already paid for another forum ( Jess had a bulk account) and it renews automatically , was a month after i paid for this one last year, i didnt even know, so have asked them to cancel that at the same time

An EPP code is normally sent by email or is shown in your account.

If you request to move a domain from one registrar / hosting company to another, then a code would be needed to do so.

Once you ask for one, it should be given to you via your account log in or email, then you can request the transfer of the domain to a new host.

When requesting, you have to input the code, and then an email would be sent to the administrator / domain contact, of which you have a link to confirm that it is your intention to move hosts.

This can take minutes or hours or even a few days.

The domain should be renewed from what you say, if it is then nothing will happen as such. Once you get back off your holidays, then start the transfer process. If you have to pay another year registration so be it with the new host, you won't lose any monies. All that would happen is in stead of expiring in one year, it would be 2 as it is added to the original expiry date so to speak.

If the domain is not renewed or it expires, then you would have 30 days to renew it before losing it anyway. Granted though, your website would go offline.

If you start the process off before you go on holidays, it may all be sorted out, or it may not, it's your call.
