Regarding the not backing down to the training. I totally agree with you there when you say change tactics and give some ball reward then go back but you have to work with what's best for the dog (motivational) after all they are all different characters and sometimes too much 'you have to approach' can break the dog. If you forced me to eat Neil's cake - I wouldn't be HAPPY (or would I?)
This brings me back to treating dogs like dogs and surely allowing them to be dogs!

Soory nut shure wyat you meen abowt my “reply to Kel”. It was to Jed, you bean on them majic mushyrooms?
Now then, it don’t matter if the dog aint happy doing want I want but it will be after just like eating Neils cake.
“training” aint the be all and end all of “leadership“, its about control so they can live in harmony with us. There comes a point where if we want to own dogs, one has to draw the line otherwise we might as well have a pack that we open the door to and let them go off and find din dins for themselves and give us puppies every 6 months.
I also think that some “trained by trainers” dogs are robots for the clueless. Wench has Barry, nice boy, she gives in to him all the time and when he wants something, just anything cos he is bored, he is a pain.
When I first met her, tell him to sit down, you get a blank look. No she says you must tell him sit only. Down is a different command.
Within one week living with me, no “training”, just an ahhh, come, sidown whatever I wanted he did as he knew I was the Daddy
